WINDSHIELD PROTECTION FILM?
Windshield Protection Film (WPF), sometimes referred to as windshield skin or exterior windshield film, is a clear, durable urethane film applied directly to the outside surface of a vehicle’s windshield. Acting as a sacrificial barrier, the film is designed to absorb and disperse impact energy from gravel, stones, sand, and other road debris before it reaches the glass, helping reduce the likelihood and severity of chips, scratches, pitting, and cracks.
Unlike traditional PPF, WPF is specifically engineered for automotive windshields with optical clarity in mind, helping preserve visibility without interfering with normal wiper operation or properly functioning sensors and ADAS cameras. It also helps maintain the appearance and clarity of the glass during everyday driving, making it particularly valuable for vehicles equipped with expensive, specialty, heated, lightweight, difficult-to-source, or camera-equipped windshields.
