WHAT IS
CERAMIC COATING?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds with the vehicle’s paint, creating a hard protective layer. Once cured, it provides protection from UV damage, oxidation, chemical stains, and minor swirl marks. It also creates a hydrophobic surface so water beads off instead of sitting on the paint which reduces water spots and makes washing easier. Unlike wax or sealant, it doesn’t wash away or need reapplying every few months as it’s a semi-permanent layer that lasts depending on the product tier and maintenance.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
CERAMIC COATING VS WAX
Traditional wax enhances your vehicle’s appearance with short-term gloss, water beading, and limited surface protection. However, it wears down through washing, weather, heat, and chemical exposure, requiring frequent reapplication to maintain its benefits.
Ceramic coating offers a more advanced, long-lasting solution. Its chemical bond with the paint provides enhanced chemical resistance, hydrophobic properties, UV and oxidation protection, and a lasting high-gloss finish with less frequent maintenance.
For a vehicle protected with ceramic coating, traditional wax is generally unnecessary. Certain waxes may also contain solvents or abrasives that can interfere with coating performance.
WHO IS
CERAMIC COATING FOR?
Ceramic coating suits owners who want their paint to stay glossy and be easier to maintain long term. It is popular with daily drivers who want stronger protection against sun exposure, bird droppings, tree sap, and road grime. Often paid with PPF for ultimate paint protection from the elements.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS
OF CERAMIC COATING?
Exceptional Gloss and Depth
-
Ceramic coating enhances the appearance of the paint by creating greater gloss, depth, clarity, and reflectivity.
Hydrophobic Water Behaviour
-
The coating creates a water-repellent surface that encourages water to bead and move away from the vehicle - this helps reduce the amount of water and contamination that remains on the surface after washing or rainfall.
Easier Cleaning
-
Dirt, insects, road grime, and other contaminants have more difficulty bonding to a coated surface. The vehicle will still need to be washed, but regular maintenance is generally faster and easier.
UV and Oxidation Protection
-
Ceramic coating helps protect painted surfaces from UV exposure, oxidation, and loss of gloss. This is especially valuable for vehicles stored outside or driven frequently during bright summer conditions.
Chemical Resistance
-
A professional ceramic coating provides increased resistance to environmental chemicals and contamination compared with unprotected paint or conventional wax. Contamination should still be removed promptly to prevent etching or staining.
Environmental Protection
-
The coating helps protect against contamination such as bug residue, bird droppings, tree sap, road salt, acid rain, industrial fallout, , general road grime.
Long-Term Protection
-
Depending on the selected coating, vehicle use, maintenance, and warranty requirements, professional ceramic coatings can provide years of protection.
Improved Slickness
-
A coated vehicle has a smoother and slicker surface, reducing the ability of dirt and contamination to cling to the paint.
Supports Resale and Vehicle Condition
-
Maintaining the gloss and condition of the original paint can support the vehicle’s overall appearance and long-term value.

A coating designed for suitable plastic and trim surfaces can help preserve colour and reduce fading from UV exposure.
Leather and Vinyl Protection
-
Specialized interior coatings can help protect suitable leather and vinyl surfaces from dye transfer, spills, UV exposure, dirt & everyday contaminants.
Fabric and Carpet Protection
-
A suitable textile coating can help reduce the absorption of spills and contamination into fabric and carpet.

STILL UNSURE IF CERAMIC COATING IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Edmonton is a beautiful place, but our weather can be harsh and unpredictable. From road salt to hard water, hot sunny summers to frigid winters - your vehicle looking great can be a burden not everyone wants to take on.
Ceramic coating helps make these contaminants easier to remove and provides an added layer of protection against environmental exposure. It can also be added on top of Paint Protection Film for enhanced protection and simplified maintenance.
